Sree Cauvery School Celebrates India's Independence Day
In spite of heavy rains, the students and staff of Sree Cauvery School gathered in the school
premises on 15th August, 2017 to celebrate India's 71st Independence Day.
The Chief Guest for the day was Maj. (Retd) M. A. Machaiah, Secretary, K.S.E.C. Also, on the
dais were Principal of Sree Cauvery School Mrs. Gowri Kumari M. C. and Vice Principal
Mr. Sreepadaraja K.
The event started with the Chief Guest unfurling the tricolor flag. The gathering along with the
school choir led by music teacher Mrs. Sujatha Satish sang the National Anthem followed by
many patriotic songs. Our Head Boy, Sankalp shared the significance of independence as well as
the achievements of our country in these 70 years of Indian Independence.
The Chief Guest gave a wonderful speech about the importance of knowing the meaning of
actual independence by telling us to "live and let live". He emphasized the meaning of a line in
the song "Saare jahan se acha" where we should have mutual respect for each other. He stressed
that the children should respect teachers and parents and that their prime duty was to study well
to build a beautiful nation.
The students of classes 7, 8 and 9 gave an enthralling performance by dancing to the tune of A.
"Maa Thuje Salam".
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by our Head Girl, Deeksha, followed by the
distribution of sweets to the students.
It was indeed a memorable independence day where the students and teachers alike braved the
torrential rains to join the flag hoisting, which only shows the true patriotism in them. May the
citizens continue to be patriotic and serve the nation to make it a better place to live in.
