Students and staff of Sree Cauvery School gathered in the school premises on 15th August, 2016 to celebrate India's 70th Independence Day.
The Chief Guest for the day was Maj. Gen. Kelapanda Bopaiah Swaraj Retd. who also shared his birthday on this auspicious day. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Machamada Radha. Also on the dais were Mr. B. A. Machaiah, Vice Chairman, KSEC and Mr. M. A. Kaveriappa, Joint Secretary, KSEC.
The event started with the Chief Guest unfurling the tricolor flag and the gathering in unison sang the National Anthem followed by our students singing many patriotic songs. Our Head Boy, Vineeth K. R. welcomed the crowd and shared his thoughts on Independence Day.
The Chief Guest gave a wonderful speech about the importance of discipline, fitness, time management, leadership, self-motivation, determination, positive thinking, dedication, adapting to changes and most importantly, respect towards the country.
Mr. M.A. Kaveriappa also addressed the gathering and shared his views on how each of us can do service to our nation and society in our own way.
Our primary school students dressed in attires as some of our freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Sarojini Naidu, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sangolli Rayanna and Rani Channamma charmed the crowd with their performance.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by our Head Girl, Rhea Bopanna, followed by the distribution of sweets to the students.
Indeed, it was a day of joy, a day to love and respect our country and make it a better place for Indians to live and experience the freedom, peace and unity in diversity.
